Project Management Most projects involve cross-functional teams and many have teams comprised
of members in various geographic locations and from different companies. Having managed
both small and large (50+ person) cross-functional teams consisting of members in several
countries and from various companies, we bring a wealth of experience to bear on the nuts
and bolts of day to day project management. From establishing effective methods of
communication to organizing the project so members in another time zone can be productive,
we are well-versed in the ways of successful project management.
Project Map Days A key element to a successful project is setting the right expectations at
the beginning for all the members of the project team and being able to monitor these as the
project progresses. We are experienced facilitators of a methodology called
"project map days" that seeks at the beginning of a project to clearly define project
expectations (milestones, deliverables, dependencies and timelines) by involving all the
project team members in a process of building (literally) a project map. The
methodology leads teams through stages corresponding to answering the "why", "what",
"how" and "when" for a project. Map Days have consistently received high marks from
project teams as they are often a catalyst for building cooperation between team members,
encouraging open communication and setting expectations for both team members and senior
management.
Project Post Mortems We have found many project teams benefit from conducting a "post mortem" process
once a project is completed. We faciliate a process where the team documents "lessons learned" and identifies
concrete steps to take that will make for better outcomes on future projects. Recommendations are reported out to the entire project
team and management for ratification.
